This is a beautiful story,

An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson
في مزرعة بمنطقة جبال شرق ولاية كنتا كي يسكن عجوز أمريكي مسلم مع حفيده الصغير

Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Qur'an.
في صباح كل يوم يستيقظ الجد مبكراً ويجلس على طاولة المطبخ يقرأ القرآن

His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.
يرغب الحفيده أن يصبح كجده ويحاول أن يقلده بكل الطرق قدر المستطاع

One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa, I try to read the Qur'an just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book.
في أحد الأيام سأل الحفيد جده : جدي أنا أحاول أن أقرأ القرآن مثلك لكن يصعب علي فهمه بالإضافة إلى أن ما أفهمه منه أنساه لحظة إغلاق دفتي الكتاب


What good does reading the Qur'an do?"
إذن فما نفع قراءة القرآن ؟

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."
تحول الجد بهدوء عن عملية وضعه للفحم في الموقد وأجاب حفيده: خذ سلة الفحم هذه إلى النهر وأحضرها لي مملؤة بالماء

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house.
قام الفتى بتنفيذ ما طُلب منه لكن كل الماء الذي وضعه في السلة تسرب منها قبل أن يصل للمنزل

The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.
ضحك الجد (لحظة رؤيته للسلة الفارغة) وقال لحفيدة يتوجب عليك أن تسرع في المرة القادمة (وأنت تحمل سلة الماء) ..ثم أرسل الجد حفيده حاملاً السلة مرة أخرى للنهر وطلب منه أن يحاول مرة أخرى

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home.
هذه المرة ركض الفتى مسرعاً (وهو يحمل سلة الماء) لكن مرة أخرى تفرغ السلة من الماء قبل وصوله للمنزل

Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.
لاهثاً يخبر الفتى جده بأن من المستحيل أن يحمل ماء في سلة لذا ذهب وأحضر دلو عوضاً عن السلة

The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not
trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.
لكن الجد قال لحفيده : لا أريد دلو من الماء بل سلة من الماء ..أنت لا تحاول جاهداً بما فيه الكفاية ..بعدها خرج الجد في الخارج يراقب الحفيد وهو يحاول من جديد

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house.
عند هذا الحد علم الفتى أن هذا مستحيل لكنه أراد أن يبرهن لجده إنه حتى وإن ركض بأسرع ما يستطيع أن يركض سيتسرب الماء قبل أن يعود أدراجه للمنزل


The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard,
أخذ الفتى مرة أخرى يغطس السلة في مياه النهر ومن ثم يركض بها

but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty.
لكن عندما وصل إلى جده كانت السلة فارغة هذه المرة أيضاً

Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!" "So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."
بأنفاس متقطعة قال الحفيد لجده : أنظر لهذا جدي يبدو لي أن لا جدوى من هذا
أجابه جده : أنظر لهذه السلة

The boy looked at the basket and for
the first time realized that the basket was different.
أخذ الفتى ينظر للسلة وللمرة الأولى أدرك بأن السلة تبدو مختلفة

It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.
فلقد تحولت من سلة فحم قديمة وقذرة إلى أخرى نظيفة من الداخل والخارج

"Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an.
قال الجد : هذا يا بني ما يحدث عندما تقرأ القرآن

You might not understand or remember
everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and outside
قد لا تستوعب أو تتذكر كل شيء من القرآن لكن عندما تقرأه ستتغير هكذا من الداخل والخارج
